Kate Piekutowski is an Australian contemporary printmaker with a Polish heritage and background. Born in Hobart, Tasmania, Kate finished her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2011 from the University of Tasmania and later completed her Masters of Fine Arts (2013), specialising in printmaking. She has exhibited extensively around Australia as well as internationally in New York, Italy, Singapore, Greece, Hong Kong and India; and completed multiple artist residencies around the world including in Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain, New Zealand, Tasmania and India.
Kate reflects on disconnection, melancholia and nostalgia within her original, multi-layered etchings. Her work incorporates multiple layers using various mediums such as acrylic paint, spray paint, gold leaf, gold ink, gloss varnish, water-colours and gouache.
Using her original works, Kate has created a range of cards, art prints, scarves, jewellery, homewares and more.
