Handcrafted by a local Seddon craftsman creating treasures from turn-of-the-century red gum house stumps, iron bark fence posts, coastal driftwood, mallee burls or anything interesting!
These are hand-made from 38mm copper cylinders, finished with Australian native timbers - usually Red Gum, Ironbark or Coastal Tea Tree caps. Available in three tones, the tuned sound is driven by mixing varying sizes of stainless steel bearings.
The copper is left uncoated to allow that funky aged patina to develop. Alternatively, a quick buff with some 0000 grade fine steel wool will bring up that glowing pink copper sheen.
Ground down to just under 100mm in height, the sound is very intense; and by swinging back and forth, can be varied nicely using either the copper or timber faces. Shakers are approx 4cm wide.
There are three tone options: Light #2 uses a smaller sized bearing mix for a brighter, lighter sounder; Medium #3 uses a slightly heavier mix for a general purpose sound; and Heavy #4 uses heavier bearings for a fuller cut-through percussion effect.
